Questions To Ask Competitors Of MonaVie

If you are considering drinking/distributing MonaVie but you are interested to know how MonaVie compares with other companies who offer drinks containing the acai berry, I suggest you ask these companies about their product before you give them your money and support their business.

Below are questions that you can copy and paste into an e-mail to ask the competitors of MonaVie.

Below this list of questions is an explanation of why each of these questions is an important question to ask.

Q1. Is the acai berry used in your drink freeze dried?

Q2. Is it flash pasteurized?

Q3. Within how many hours of harvesting the berry do you freeze dry and flash pasteurize?

Q4. Is the acai berry the first ingredient in your product?

Q5. What is the second ingredient?

Q6. What is the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) of the acai berry in your product?

Q7. Are there a variety of fruits in your product? If so, what are they in order of most to least in your product?

Q8. What is the cost of your product per serving?

Q9. How many grams of sugar is in your product on a per serving basis?

Q10. How many servings come in a bottle?

Q11. What is the cost of your product per serving?

Q12. What is the shelf life of your product?

Q13. Do your harvesting practices adhere to any Fair Trade organization's standards? If so, which ones?

Q14. Do you give anything back to the local community in which you harvest?

Q15. Do you harvest from existing acai palms or do you farm your own? Are you tearing down portions of the rain forest in order to grow more acai or are you using what is there?

Q16. Is your product free of GMO's (genetically modified organisms)?

Q17. Is your product organic?

Below is the reasoning behind why these questions are so critical:

Q1. Is the acai berry used in your drink freeze dried?
If the acai berry is not freeze dried it loses most of it's nutrient value within 48 hours.

Q2. Is it flash pasteurized?
Flash pastuerizing is the process of heating the liquid for approximately 15–30 seconds and then immediately cooling. By only briefly subjecting the acai to high temperatures, most -- but not all -- taste and color changes are avoided. Flash pasteurization is preferred to other methods because it kills most but not all microbes and destroys only some of the beneficial phytonutrients found in acai.

Q3. Within how many hours of harvesting the berry do you freeze dry and flash pastuerize?
The acai berry must be processed within 48 hours of harvesting or it's nutritional content will greatly diminish.

Q4. Is the acai berry the first ingredient in your product?
The FDA requires that companies list their ingredients from most to least so that the consumer knows how much of what ingredient they are consuming. Therefore if acai is listed as the first ingredient there is more acai in the drink than any other ingredient. Likewise, if the second ingredient is water or sugar, then these ingredients are a prominent part of what you are ingesting.

Q5. What is the second ingredient?
I have typically found that most company's second ingredient is either water or apple juice from concentrate.

Q6. What is the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) of your product?
The ORAC score is a method of measuring antioxidant capacities of different foods. If an acai company doesn't mention the ORAC levels of their acai, it is probably because their levels are very low. High quality acai products have high ORAC levels.

Q7. Are there a variety of fruits in your product? If so, what are they in order of most to least in your product?
This is important because there are many fruits that are considered potent antioxidants and all of them are unique and they all possess a different chemical make-up. Each fruit may be better in one very specific area so it is important to have a variety of antioxidants in your diet. There are a number of different antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables.

Q8. What is the cost of your product per serving?
Although MonaVie appears to be expensive as it retails for around $40/bottle, it has 25 1oz. servings in a bottle, where as most acai drinks on the market have serving sizes of 8oz. and therefore way less servings per bottle. Once you break it down on a cost/serving basis you will find out the true cost of what you are buying. Not to mention, you get a wholesale discount on MonaVie as well as a bulk order discount - you don't get these discounts with other products.

Q9. How many grams of sugar are there per serving?
This is very important because if a serving size is 8 oz. you are going to be consuming a lot more sugar than a 1 ounce shot of MonaVie and if you are a diabetic this is unacceptable. Sambazon smoothies have between 21 - 30 grams of sugar per serving! MonaVie has between 3 - 7 grams of sugar/serving. Click here to read more about the differences between Sambazon and MonaVie.

Q10. Can you drink this product if you have diabetes?
Because there are only 3g of sugar per serving in MonaVie Active and Original and 7g per serving in MonaVie Pulse, they are considered safe for diabetics (although always check with your doctor first).

Q9. How many grams of sugar is in your product on a per serving basis?
MonaVie Original and Active have 3g and MonaVie Pulse has 7g.

Q10. How many servings come in a bottle?
MonaVie Original and Active have 25 servings/bottle and MonaVie Pulse has 12 servings/bottle.

Q11. What is the cost of your product per serving?
Click here to read the MonaVie vs. Sambazon post where the cost/serving of MonaVie is broken down.

Q12. What is the shelf life of your product?
MonaVie shelf life is one year unopened and 30 - 60 days after opening.

Q13. Do your harvesting practices adhere to any Fair Trade organization's standards? If so, which ones?
MonaVie has implemented the practices and policies for ethical conduct required by the US Direct Selling Association (http://dsa.org/ethics/) and the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (http://wfdsa.org/world_codes/index.cfm?fa=modelCodeLanguage). These ethical codes and MonaVie's policies and practices are consistent with fair trade laws and regulations in all jurisdictions in which it operates. Q14. Do you give anything back to the local community in which you harvest?
MonaVie has The MORE Project. Click here to read more about it.

Q15. Do you harvest from existing acai palms or do you farm your own? Are you tearing down portions of the rain forest in order to grow more acai or are you using what is there?
MonaVie is wild harvested.

Q16. Is your product free of GMO's (genetically modified organisms)?
MonaVie is GMO Free.

Q17. Is your product organic?
The acai used in MonaVie is wild crafted and comes directly from the forest, therefore organic certification would be unnecessary. MonaVie is not certified organic. However, to ensure safety the finished MonaVie products are regularly tested for dozens of pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides by an independent, third-party analytical laboratory. Each test performed has repeatedly found the products to be free of any of these potentially harmful substances. This added step in MonaVie’s quality control process ensures our consumers are getting a safe, pure, and high-quality product.
